Predictive Analytics Consultant

Reports to:     Head of Analytics & Insight

Purpose

This new role is suitable for an analyst with a proven track record of successfully applying your extensive predictive analytics expertise to a wide range of business challenges – adopting an agile approach in delivering effective and repeatable analytical solutions

You will be:

  • Committed to delivering tangible results, collaborating with our clients to help them use data to improve their business’ performance
  • Applying the Logan Tod & Co measurement & evaluation framework to a diverse range of business challenges and analyses to identify the relevant questions, metrics, hypotheses, tests and visualisations that will result in genuinely actionable insight and successful analytical solutions

Key Performance Dimensions

Job performance will be measured on the following dimensions:

  • The successful delivery of a roadmap of innovative analytical solutions, requiring the integration of statistics and data mining tools, techniques and data (customer / marketing / transactional) with behavioural (web / mobile / social) analytics techniques and data
  • All deliverables comply with agreed quality standards with client and Logan Tod & Co

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for data extraction, preparation, analysis and visualisation across a range of analytical solutions ensuring the accuracy of all data output
  • Identifying actionable insights by constructing analytical solutions using predictive analytics:
    • Techniques – e.g. segmentation, profiling, CHAID, regression, clustering, factor analysis and decision/classification trees
    • Tools – e.g. SPSS, SAS, JMP, Kxen, FastStats, R, Knime and SQL
  • Integrating behavioural (web / mobile / social) data with marketing, customer and voice of customer data to construct forecasts and predictive models
  • Responsible for the coding & checking of data including incorporating a range of BI/MIS data as required
  • Keeping up to date with the latest analytics developments, techniques and research and assimilating them within Logan Tod & Co best practice
  • Identifying best of breed analytics and visualisation tools and assimilating their usage into Logan Tod & Co best practice

Internal responsibilities

  1. Education of other members of the Logan Tod & Co team regarding the most effective predictive analytics tools and techniques
  2. Collaboration with other members of the Logan Tod & Co team to determine and deliver actionable solutions to clients

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2.1 in a numerical/scientific degree
  • A minimum of three years commercial experience with a range of predictive analytics (statistics and data mining) tools and techniques is strongly desired
  • Equivalent academic experience will be considered
  • A proven track record of generating actionable insight
  • An ability to both create innovative ideas and successfully translate them into analytical solutions
  • Experience of web analytics, digital marketing and ecommerce methods and technologies is highly desirabl

Expected skills

  • Highly numerate and scientific approach
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Very high level of proficiency with statistical and data mining tools and techniques (with ideally some exposure to other Business Intelligence tools)
  • Very high level of analytical proficiency when using customer, marketing or transactional data
  • Key strengths: problem solving, intellectually curious, commercial acumen, rigorous, attention to detail and proactive
  • Basic understanding of the behavioural data (online marketing, mobile and web analytics)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and collaborative approach towards meeting new challenges
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into well-structured and simple to understand visualisations and recommendations
  • Good project management skills
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Experience in educating colleagues and clients in the benefits of utilising data as the basis for business decisions
