Analytics Implementation Specialist
Reports to: Head of Technology
Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the setup of web analytics and business intelligence technologies within an e-commerce discipline. The role requires the implementation of web analytics tags and code to ensure that the required output is accurate, timely and provides the required information that complies to agreed business & technical specifications. In addition it requires the ability to manage and combine a variety of datasets for subsequent analysis.
You will be:
- Working on leading commerce sites & dealing with real money
- Involved in many fast paced commercial projects rather than monolithic back office or routine
Key Performance Dimensions
Job performance will be measured on the following dimensions:
- Ensuring that individual implementation projects are completed on time and to agreed budget and produced the desired results
- All deliverables comply with agreed quality standards with client and Logan Tod & Co
- Personal utilisation of 80% (of time being billable to clients)
Accountabilities
- Participate in initial meetings to assess client requirements working with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Gather user requirements; write reports in a manner understood by external and internal stakeholders.
- Work with analysts and other key stakeholders to ascertain the reporting requirements to understand the needs of the project to fully translate reporting requirements.
- Assess and develop tagging specifications to maximise reporting capabilities.
- Prepare and write instructions for developers (including some elements of code), making recommendations on the most appropriate approach for the project.
- Work closely with the client’s external developers to ensure that the implementation is correct and follows agreed procedure.
- Configure web analysis tools so that reports can be correctly generated.
- Carry out QA/testing of implementation to ensure the correct data is being forwarded to the analytics tool.
- Extract, transform & load discrete datasets such as web analytics, customer, product, CRM, marketing and financial into usable datawarehouses either in house or in the cloud
Profile
Ideal for those who have an interest in business/commerce rather than just development
- A proven background in web development, including working with advanced java script, HTML and tagging specification
- Exposure to or experience of working with a web analytics tool (Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, Webtrends, Coremetrics)
- Experience of ecommerce or transactional websites
- Experience with ETL tools such as Talend and Pentaho/Kettle
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with a range of BI and reporting tools such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Excel, Qlikview, tableau, Visokio’s Omniscope Pentaho and Statistical/Predictive Analysis tools (e.g. SAS/SPSS, R, Fast Stats etc.)
- Good project management skills with a proven track record of successfully self-managing and working against multiple deadlines across a range of different projects types
- Proven communication and influencing ability, with particular regard to internal briefing and developing enthusiasm and interest amongst internal colleagues. Also the ability to contribute effectively at a cross-functional level within an organisation
- Excellent technical writing ability and strong attention to detail
- Graduate calibre, commercially aware, strong interpersonal skills
